Vivare health center - the KJP practice in Düsseldorf
Child Psychotherapist:

Lea Young
Mental illness can affect the way children, adolescents and adults think, feel and behave, and can subsequently lead to physical complaints. The severity and duration of the symptoms as well as the causes and the disease are as individual as each person, which is why each treatment must be individually adapted. Since mental health problems can have a lasting impact on the daily and social lives of those affected, it is important to treat mental illness as early as possible. This is because the earlier the behavioral changes are recognized and help is sought accordingly, the better the prognosis usually is. In most cases, the first mental illnesses occur in childhood or adolescence – changes in behavior should therefore be closely monitored. As a practice for KJP in Düsseldorf, we treat mental illnesses in children and adolescents and take care of any
other concerns, such as support for parents.

Specialized Child Psychologists
Thanks to numerous trainings, our team is specialized in treating mental illnesses by means of occupational therapy, behavioral therapy and neurofeedback. In this way, we enable our patients to achieve the greatest possible independence and autonomy in everyday life and later in their professional lives.
Steady
Further development
Our child and adolescent psychologists are constantly educating themselves through training. In this way, we always stay abreast of the latest research and development in all areas of care and can offer the best possible therapy for our patients.
Sustainable
Change
Behavioral therapy aims to replace negative patterns of thought and action with positive ones. This trains attention, perception, movement as well as the interaction of these aspects. Both psychotherapy and occupational therapy use these findings as a basis for achieving individual therapy goals.
Comprehensive
Treatment
Occupational therapy and psychotherapy are applicable to many ailments or diseases. Thus, the forms of therapy help with problems such as eating disorders, sleep disorders, depression or tics, with concentration and performance problems such as ADHD, and also with psychosomatic complaints and burnout.

In our KJP in Düsseldorf, numerous mental disorders are treated by means of occupational therapy and behavioral therapy that can occur in children and adolescents. These include, for example, ADHD, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, sleep disorders, depression, social anxiety. The therapies can take place as individual therapy as well as group therapy. With us, all patients are fully involved in the treatment plan. Any concerns, requests and uncertainties can thus be raised with our employees and taken into account by them.
The concept of behavioral therapy is based on scientifically proven effectiveness. In behavior therapy it is assumed that every action, feeling as well as thinking of a person has been learned and can also be unlearned accordingly. The goal of this form of therapy is to empower affected individuals to perform activities that are meaningful to them. These include, for example, activities in the areas of self-sufficiency, productivity and leisure.

Goals of child and adolescent psychotherapy in Düsseldorf
People affected by mental illness often have difficulties in everyday life and with making or maintaining social contacts. The main tasks of behavioral therapy – in the context of psychotherapy as well as occupational therapy – are therefore the independence and reintegration of patients into society – regardless of the age of the patient. The focus of treatment is therefore always on participation in social life, self-sufficiency and fulfilling leisure activities. Close cooperation with parents or other caregivers is particularly important. Finally, the form of therapy aims not only to perform and thus improve concrete actions and activities, but also to consider their effects on the person and his environment. Patients should be enabled to care for themselves to a large extent, participate in society and thus achieve a sustainably better quality of life.

FAQ about the KJP in Düsseldorf
Reason 1: Specialist in behavior therapy for children and adolescents
In behavior therapy it is assumed that every action, feeling as well as thinking of a person has been learned and can also be unlearned accordingly. The goal of this form of therapy is to empower affected individuals to perform activities that are meaningful to them. These include, for example, activities in the areas of self-sufficiency, productivity and leisure. However, for therapy to be successful, sufferers must agree to overcome their problems. This is to be caused by changed views as well as behaviors.
Reason 2: Comprehensive range of therapies
In our therapy center, we primarily treat children suffering from ADHD, eating disorders, depression or anxiety. But we also help adults who suffer from migraines, burnout, depression, eating or sleeping disorders, for example, with the help of occupational therapy measures. Occupational therapy can help treat a variety of conditions, develop new coping strategies, and make it easier to deal with the condition in everyday life.
Reason 3: Sustainable treatment
In order to achieve sustainable success, motivation, resilience and perseverance are strengthened by means of individual behavioral therapy – in the context of occupational therapy or psychotherapy. This can provide lasting help for a wide variety of problems such as ADHD, eating disorders, depression, social anxiety, sleep disorders, compulsions or burnout.
Our therapy center primarily treats children and adolescents, but also adults who suffer from psychological problems or other limitations. This may be, for example, alack of or defective development of motor skills, perceptual processing, cognition, and social behavior, or the loss of previously learned behaviors due to an illness or accident. Our therapy approaches are occupational therapy, behavioral therapy and neurofeedback. Occupational therapy is a form of therapy in which patients learn manual/creative techniques, practical living tasks, planning tasks, communication and perception enhancing measures or skills and skill training under supervision and thus work largely independently. The individual difficulties of children, adolescents and adults are specifically tested and supported with the help of occupational therapy. The goal is thus to improve the patient’s independence, to enable (renewed) integration into society, to promote social skills, and to regain or restore a capacity for action that has been lost or does not yet exist.
Before treatment begins, we conduct a detailed initial consultation. The main purpose of this conversation is to get to know each other and to create a basis of trust. In the further course, the concern is discussed and on the basis of this the individual diagnostics and treatment method are determined. In the course of this, goals and needs are also formulated. The therapy plan and the respective course of therapy depend on the type and severity of the mental illness as well as the desired changes in everyday life. It is important to us to choose a form of therapy that appeals to you. They are therefore always included in the decision. By means of occupational therapy and psychotherapy, we finally support you in realizing your goals and in developing your own solution strategies for challenges.
Mental illnesses are multifaceted and often cannot be recognized at first glance.
